Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Writer: Rebecca AdamsRebecca Adams

In May 2017, my Mum and I attended an event in Amsterdam for a few days. As I love to travel and be a tourist I'd booked us things to do whilst over in Amsterdam.

Mum and I stayed at the hotel and met there as she flew from Liverpool and I flew over from Bristol. So, it was fabulous that she met me at the front door as she had already checked in herself.

We then made our way to the train and went to the RAI Amsterdam to register for the event and then took the train into the centre of Amsterdam to have a look around and to eat food.

The city is inundated with bicycles and they have a multi-storey bicycle park for them too - never seen so many in my life!

What I find wonderful is that they have trams, bicycles, canal boats and people walking everywhere too, plus the Amsterdam Centraal train station is very prominent and the building is gorgeous (as you can see above), so Amsterdam offers lots of flexibility for travelling around. The people are friendly and it's quite easy to navigate.

I booked tickets to go to the Anne Frank Museum which is situated in the house she was in. You can't take photo inside and you see the original Anne Frank Diary too. The price back in 2017 was €9 each.

We visited Keukenhof Gardens too, which is a wonderful day out to see all the beautiful tulips, the lovely lake, windmills, buy your tulip bulbs and have food. We took a coach from Schipol Airport to Keukenhof Gardens and Mum loved the day immensely.

We attended the event over the 2 days and I met Emily Wright there too - she is a true inspiration in the work that she does together with the dōTERRA company.

Mum and I also went on a canal boat ride around Amsterdam which was a wonderful experience to travel around the city on the water and see a different perspective.

Overall, it was an incredible few days in The Netherlands and I'd definitely go back. Great memories and great company with being with my Mum too. Take lots of photos and enjoy.
